About Ruth
I am an equine massage therapist specialising in soft tissue and myofascial release therapy, and equine Tissue Mobilisation.
I take a wholistic approach to every horse I treat, not only looking at the muscular and skeletal structure of the horse but at the horse’s nutrition, exercise, workload, management, farriery, and other aspects of it’s care and lifestyle.
I treat all horses in any kind of work. My specialities are in racehorses, performance horses, and rehabilitation with focus on strengthening, conditioning and physiotherapy to minimise risk of potential future injuries or muscular soreness. I help to create a rehabilitation and physiotherapy plan for long-term injury prevention and performance enhancement.
Each horse is treated as an individual. To discuss your horse and how I can help improve their condition, performance and results please send me a message.

Treatment of Extreme Neck Pain
Racehorses can suffer from the most acute muscle soreness. Luckily, they are often the easiest to fix. Watch this mare release her extreme neck pain after just one treatment.
Acute Back Pain Treatment

Equissage Treatment

Services and Pricing —
A consultation is included in your first appointment. Treatments go for one hour, but allow an extra 15 minutes for a consultation. All treatments within a 30 minute catchment area from Wilberforce cost $80 per horse. Travel time over 30 minutes will incur a travel fee of $20 per horse (total $100 per horse). Multiple horse discounts apply for three or more horses incurring a travel fee; please contact me for more details.
Treatments provided:
Two types of treatment are offered that include various modalities. Both treatments are for the same duration and priced as above. I do not provide veterinary advice- if you are concerned about your horse’s soundness or injury please seek advice and assessment from your vet before proceeding with bodywork.
Full Treatment:
A full treatment is recommended for all horses not competing or racing within a couple of days / on the same day as the treatment. After an assessment, a full treatment includes red light therapy, myofascial release, sports massage and tissue mobilisation techniques. Using these techniques I detect and release fascial restrictions that are hindering performance and preventing or slowing down recovery from soft-tissue injuries. If required a treatment and rehabilitation plan is discussed to give the horse the best chance of recovery and return to performance.
Equissage Performance Treatment:
For horses racing or competing on the same day or within 2-3 days of treating. This includes a 40 minute Equissage with the back pad, the hand-held massager all over and 6 minutes on each leg. The Equissage encourages lymphatic drainage and blood flow, warms up the back before work, recovery after work, improves joint mobility and many other benefits. It is the perfect before competition warm up or after work recovery treatment. The Equissage Performance Treatment is finished with a 20 minute bodywork session including myofascial release and tissue mobilisation techniques to improve range of motion and release any outstanding soft-tissue restrictions.
